With 6-3 Win, Pioneers Improve to 54-40
|
Led by Larry Stinson, the Calgary Pioneers downed the Montreal Blazers, 6-3. Stinson was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Pioneers. Mitch Bond got the win, improving to 12-5. He held the Blazers to 3 runs on 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 3. Edward Harrison, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 13th save.
Calgary took a 6-3 lead on Stinson's 25th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Vonne Baloloy in the top of the eighth, propelled Calgary to the win.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Stinson. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
Calgary, now 54-40, holds down first place in the Johnson League Frontier Division.
