Vancouver Falters Again, Loses, 2-0, to Chicago
|
Chicago right-hander Salvador Montáñez pitched his team to victory over the Vancouver Mounties at Vinnie Vitale Stadium. The final score was 2-0. The winning pitcher was Montáñez, now 5-4. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Orlando Rúbio notched his 2nd save of the season.
The Black Sox got a big at-bat from shortstop Ángel De La Cruz. For the game, De La Cruz was 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Chicago a 1-0 lead.
"Salvador just settled in and did what he does," said Chicago manager Rocky Wattson.
Vancouver has now lost 6 in a row.
