Pharaohs Top Pilots, 8-6
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Boulus bin Altair, the Cairo Pharaohs defeated the Sao Paulo Pilots, 8-6. bin Altair belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Pharaohs. Eric Parker, now 6-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Cairo, now 84-69, holds down second place in the GBC.
Cairo used the timely hitting of Jimmy Bigelow to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Pharaohs on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," Bigelow said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
