San Fernando Topples Sacramento, 5-2
|
The San Fernando Bears beat the Sacramento Mad Popes, 5-2, at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough. The win was due in part to catcher Clinton Tyler, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jim Achbar closed the door for San Fernando, picking up his 20th save of the year. At 80-82, the Bears are currently 5th in the Frick League Pacific Division.
Takeichi Suzuki helped out the San Fernando cause in the top of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 2-5 with 2 singles.
"We did a lot of things right," said Tyler.
