Pharaohs Win Nail-Biter
|
The Cairo Pharaohs trumped the Sao Paulo Pilots, 4-3, at Ballpark of Bucharest. Cairo designated hitter Carlos Rangel was terrific. He went 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times. Cairo reliever Vic Ayliffe picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Rex Strong shouldered the loss. Cairo's record now stands at 55-49, placing them second in the GBC.
The most important at-bat for Cairo came in the top of the 13th inning, when catcher Dave Butler stroked a full count fastball to right for a run-scoring single, putting Cairo up, 4-3.
"This was a good win," said Rangel.
