Pharaohs Shut Out Pilots, 6-0
|
The Cairo Pharaohs defeated the Sao Paulo Pilots, 6-0, at Ballpark of Bucharest. Leading the charge for Cairo was left fielder Boulus bin Altair. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Getting the save was Harold Newbold, his 2nd. Cairo is now 42-31, 2½ games up in the GBC AfSAmOc Division.
Manchu Li had a big bases-clearing triple for the Pharaohs in the top of the eighth inning. With Cairo leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Anssi Karvinen, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2053 draft, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 5th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pharaohs ahead, 6-0.
Cairo manager James Monger praised his team's "businesslike approach."
