Gold Need Extra Innings to Top Brisas, 6-5
|
Getting a good performance from center fielder Jamal bin Majd, the Johannesburg Gold defeated the Buenos Aires Brisas, 6-5. bin Majd was 3 for 6 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs for the Gold. Joe Burton earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. By defeating Buenos Aires, the second-place Gold improved to 41-34.
Johannesburg took a 6-4 lead on Terao Nishiyama's 4th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Nishiyama hit in the top of the 14th, left Buenos Aires pitcher Jacob Cruz visibly frustrated.
"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," bin Majd told the Johannesburg Herald.
