Mounties Dump Mad Popes, 5-0
|
Sacramento got a valiant performance from pitcher Joe King, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vancouver Mounties. Vancouver won the game, 5-0. King threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Rich Glaser, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit. Rodney Keeley locked down his 7th save.
Vancouver used a well-timed hit by Raúl Peña to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mounties ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Peña said his team "played with determination."
Their 83-73 record puts the Mounties third in the Frick League Pacific Division.
