Sluggers Snag 6-5 Win
|
Mal Fountain was instrumental in his team's 6-5 triumph over the Des Moines Kernels. The third baseman went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Louisville Sluggers. The winner in relief was Rich Lower. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. The Sluggers move to 62-94 with the win, while the Kernels drop to 73-83.
The critical at-bat for Louisville came in the top of the ninth inning. With one out, Fountain hit a sacrifice fly, putting Louisville up, 6-5.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Fountain, "and go after the next one."
