Bears Beaten By Tropics, 5-3
|
‘Iolani Palace was the site of a competitive game between the San Fernando Bears and Hawaii Tropics.
The Hawaii Tropics defeated the San Fernando Bears, 5-3, in Frick League action at ‘Iolani Palace. Hawaii pitcher Semih Gurânî had a standout performance. Gurânî yielded 3 runs over 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 6-10. Troy Reynolds notched his 6th save of the season.
Eric Owens had a big 2-run home run for the Tropics in the bottom of the third inning. With Hawaii leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Morris Chapa, the 12th overall pick in the 2050 draft, and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Tropics on top, 3-0.
"Semih was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Hawaii manager Rich Kerr.
Hawaii now sits at 66-81, while San Fernando falls to 82-65.
