The Tokyo Pearls faced a tough opponent in Sydney pitcher Richard Balgera, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Manama Fields by a final score of 3-2. Balgera went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Tokyo reliever Veikko Aravirta was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Carlos Rocha took the loss. With the win, the Pearls improved to 23-22.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Tokyo trailing 2-1, Chris Thomas hit a fastball from Carlos Rocha for a 2-run home run, giving the Pearls the walk-off win.
"It's great to see the crowd jacked up," Thomas said.
