8-3 Pharaohs Win over Brisas Evens Season Record
|
Cairo and Buenos Aires got after it at Estadio Rico.
Pharaohs second baseman Shane Smith left his mark on his team's 8-3 win over the Buenos Aires Brisas. Smith, who finished 3rd in the GBC in wins above replacement with 5.9 in 2059, belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Cairo in the contest. Khaleel bin Zubair was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
Sean Krajancic was 1-5. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Cairo. The 34-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off Siu-chung Zhan. It was his 31st hit of the season.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Smith.
With the win, Cairo pushed its record to 17-17.
