3-2 Blazers Win over Spuds Evens Season Record
|
The Montreal Blazers earned a close win over the Boise Spuds, thanks in part to José Barrón. The Montreal right-hander, who finished 5th in the FL in wins with 17 in 2056, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Augusto Ayala earned the save for Montreal, his 10th of the year. The Spuds, now 32-40, have lost 4 in a row.
Montreal right fielder Ziya Türkes contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a curveball to right-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Blazers ahead, 3-0.
Boise manager Mario Contreras said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
