Blue Claws Howard Lost for Year Monday, August 21st, 2124 The doctors have spoken and Aaron Howard of the Lakewood Blue Claws didn't like what he heard. The 22-year-old closer is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Howard sustained his season-ending injury during the Surprise Royals game yesterday at First Energy Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Lakewood medical staff reported Howard had a torn back muscle and would be absent from the lineup for at least 4-5 months. So far this season Howard has chalked up a 1.42 ERA with 3 saves. In 11 relief appearances he has registered a 1-0 won-lost record and struck out 7 batters in 12.2 innings, while walking 7. He has allowed teams to hit .277 against him. |
