Staten Island Blanks Hudson Valley Behind Powell Saturday, August 19th, 2124 Dan Powell subdued the Hudson Valley Renegades, 4-0, pitching a 4-hit gem for the Staten Island Yankees at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. "He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Staten Island skipper said afterward. Powell registered 9 strikeouts and issued 1 walk in his superb performance. "We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Hudson Valley manager after the defeat. Thus far this season, Powell has tossed 54.1 innings in 8 starts, fanned 69 batters, walked 9 and put up a 2.48 ERA with 5 wins and 2 losses. |
