Ford Named Top Reliever for SAS
Friday, April 17th , 2172
At the age of 22, Joe Ford says he still has a lot to learn about life in Class SA League.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Lowell Spinners reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2171 SA South Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Sterling Heights, Michigan native said.
For the season, Ford had 25 saves in 43 relief appearances, which totaled 55. He fanned 39 betters, while walking 9 and put up a record of 4-3 to go with his 0.82 ERA.
He received 30 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Carlos MartÃnez of the Vermont Lake Monsters finished second in voting, while Anthony Long of the Idaho Falls Chukars finished third.
