Blake Belts 3 HR for Power Sunday, July 16th , 2169 West Virginia Power right fielder Mark Blake almost did it all. He sent three shots out of the ballpark, scored 3 times and drove in 6 runs and had 3 hits in 5 at-bats. The one thing he could not do, however, was lead the Power to victory. The Huntington Beach Goodfellas escaped with the win, 8-6, despite being on the receiving end of the barrage from Blake. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't like hitting three homers, but losing takes a little glitter off the game," he admitted to BNN writers after the game. Mark Blake hit a two-run home run off Brady Buck in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Brady Buck in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Brady Buck in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th. "When someone hits three home runs, you put yourself in a tough position to win," said West Virginia manager . "We were lucky to win this one. I don't think it matters how hard you throw, especially in the Class A Ball League. If you leave a ball out over the plate to good Class A Ball League hitters, if they get a bead on you and you leave it over the middle, they're probably going to take a good hack at it." This season, Blake has banged out 96 hits in 317 at-bats for a .303 average with 23 home runs. He is getting on base at a .349 pace and his totals also include 72 RBIs and 52 runs scored. |
