San Antonio Wins Round 1

Depending on your loyalties, the Round 1 was either thrilling or heartbreaking.
The series went down to its final game, with the San Antonio Missions and the New Britain Rock Cats giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Missions came out on top, winning 7-0 at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium today to take the series 2-1.
"We're lucky to be going into the Round 2," said San Antonio pitcher Jason Mathews. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."
Mathews earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .500 average, with 0 home runs, 1 RBI and 1 runs scored.
The San Antonio Missions will play against the Frisco Rough Riders in the next round. Frisco had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
