Brewer Booms 4 HR Against Reading
Sunday, August 9th , 2172
Hitting a single home run is a tough task. Hitting two in a game is impressive. Hitting three is remarkable. Anything beyond that is borderline unbelievable -- yet that's what Mark Brewer did today in the 9-5 Jacksonville Suns victory over the Reading Phillies.
Brewer went 4-for-5 with 4 home runs and drove in 5 runs in a once-in-a-lifetime feat that the opposing manager later labeled "impossible."
"I don't believe it really happened," Phillies manager joked to BNN reporters afterward. "I don't ever enjoy losing a game, but this kid was special today. I have never seen a guy hit 4 in a game before. I didn't enjoy it, but it was special."
Mark Brewer grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Matt O'Neill in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Ben Crowley in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Bernard Martinella in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Alonso Méndez in the 8th.
A look at his season totals shows Brewer with 10 home runs, .227 BA, .306 OBP, 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
