Mets Pineda and Rubber Ducks Boehm Suspended for Fight
Thursday, May 14th , 2172
Yesterday at NYSEG Stadium José Pineda and Adalgiso Boehm got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Binghamton Mets and Akron Rubber Ducks. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Pineda will have to sit out 3 while Boehm would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
This year, Pineda is hitting .292, produced 8 RBIs and 1 home runs, scored 10 times and gotten on base at a .420 rate.
To date, Boehm has a 0-2 mark in 0 starts with a 7.12 ERA. He has given up 27 hits in 24 innings, struck out 34 and issued 6 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .284 batting average against him.
