Kirkland Slaps 5 Hits
Thursday, June 10th , 2173
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Frisco's 15-2 win over Corpus Christi, third baseman John Kirkland was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Kirkland said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
John Kirkland doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Darrel Morash in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and hit an RBI single in the 6th.
This season, Kirkland has delivered 70 hits in 222 at-bats for a .315 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .340 clip and his totals also include 35 RBIs and 32 runs scored. This year Kirkland has played in 52 games.
