Tennessee Sweeps into the Round 2
It's a sweet sweep for the Tennessee Smokies and they have won the Round 1. The Midland Rock Hounds were not able to keep pace with the Smokies and dropped the series in short order, losing 5-4 in the deciding game.

"This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Midland manager .

It's now on to the Round 2 for Tennessee after their 2-0 series win.

Leading the way for the winners was catcher Tom Bittman, who was named MVP. For the series, Bittman hit .571 with a .700 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 2 runs.

The Tennessee Smokies will play against the Birmingham Barons in the next round. Birmingham had a bye in the Round 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
