Martínez Slaps 5 Hits
Tuesday, August 27th , 2058
After a 5-hit effort to lead Buenos Aires's 23-7 victory over the Georgetown Royals, second baseman Oliver Martínez told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the South America Baseball League-level is really something special."

The 23-year-old player earned his accolades today at Ballpark at Demerara Harbour with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Royals.

"His swing is getting there," said Brisas skipper Héctor Bernard, who spoke glowingly of Martínez after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Oliver did that to perfection today."

Oliver Martínez doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, walked in the 8th and walked in the 9th.

Currently Martínez has 27 home runs and a .285 batting average.
