Sun Kings End Gonzáles's Streak
Wednesday, August 17th, 2044
Montevideo first baseman Armando Gonzáles came into today's game against the Rio de Janiero Sun Kings on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Sun Kings did their jobs well, beating the Montevideo Leones 5-2 and holding Gonzáles hitless to snap his 34-game hitting streak. The 25-year-old first baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Armando did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Leones manager Todd Kilger. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 34 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

Thus far this season in 74 games Gonzáles is batting .342 with 3 home runs, 32 RBIs and 45 runs scored. He has 96 hits in 281 at-bats.
