Warriors Chill Walenekino's Hot Streak Wednesday, January 30th , 2058 Winikeneke Walenekino came rolling into today's game against the Auckland Warriors with a 23-game hitting string, but he left it on the field at Buenos Aires HS Grounds. The 14-year-old Majuro Bruins second baseman went 0-for-5 against the Warriors as the Bruins fell, 8-3. "I swung at a couple pitches I probably shouldn't have and I didn't swing at a couple I probably should have," he said, grimacing. "But that's what makes a hit streak so impressive in the first place -- it only takes a couple mistakes to end it all." So far this season, Walenekino has recorded a .386 batting average with 39 hits, 3 home runs, 16 RBIs, 21 runs scored and a .500 OBP. |
