Catbirds Triumph in 2058 Round 1 Thursday, September 26th , 2058 Sometimes the winner is the one who got the lucky bounces and the lucky calls, and sometimes the winner is just the one who played better. It was the latter case in 2058, as the Shanghai Catbirds topped the Tokyo Magic 5-4 tonight at The Nest to win the Round 1. It was the 8th title in franchise history. "When you play for championships, you have to play better than the team in the other dugout. We did that in this series, and all year. Now we're the best team in baseball," said Shanghai center fielder Manny García, who was named series MVP. The Catbirds took the series 4-2. The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first-place finish in the FEBL and a 104-36 record. Shanghai manager Tiljad Mwarania grinned and nodded when asked to comment on García's words. "Manny said it best -- we played better than the other team," the skipper said.
