Freedom Torpedoed by Sánchez in 4-0 Loss to Victoria
Thursday, August 29th , 2058
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Ernesto Sánchez of the Victoria Purple Knights proved the point at Vulcans Stadium today, holding the Johannesburg Freedom to 6 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Sánchez made us look real bad today," Freedom manager Daniel Clymo said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Sánchez had 10 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Purple Knights took the 4-0 win.
In 29 starts this year Sánchez has recorded a 15-8 record and a 2.46 ERA.
