Cedars End Cortés's Streak
Sunday, June 24th, 2046
Manama third baseman José Cortés came into today's game against the Beirut Cedars on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Cedars did their jobs well, beating the Manama Pearls 5-2 and holding Cortés hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 31-year-old third baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What José did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Pearls manager Dave Schroeder. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

Cortés has collected 61 hits for the Pearls this year, 1 of them home runs. He has also netted 25 RBIs and scored 32 runs while batting .310.
