Phillips Booms 3 out of the Park Tuesday, August 13th , 2058 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Saturn Ringers today. San Angelo center fielder Ron Phillips tripled up on the home runs to propel the Missions to the 14-0 win at Lone Star Ballpark. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Saturn manager Mark Wurfel said. "Phillips hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Phillips collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 8 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Ron Phillips hit a two-run home run off Ling-kung Yan in the 1st, walked in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off José Gonzáles in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Juan Jose Montoya in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. For the season Phillips has hit .359 with 8 home runs and 35 RBIs. He has played in 49 games and scored 23 times. |
