Matchim Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits
Tuesday, August 6th , 2058
Conor Matchim got the glory and the headlines today, but the Daytona Beach Cruisers left with the win. The Antigua center fielder easily handled the Cruisers pitching, going 5-for-5, but his Antigua Tikis came out on the short end of the 9-8 score.
Matchim told BNN reporters in the postgame interview he would happily trade "three or four" of his hits for a win.
"Heck, maybe even all of them," he said with a laugh. "Right now, it just seems like one loss in a long season but who knows what it could mean at the end."
Conor Matchim singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This season Matchim is batting at a .259 clip with 2 home runs and 28 RBIs.
