Torres Blanks Coco Cay, 3-0 Friday, August 2nd , 2058 León Torres of the San Angelo Missions was on top of his game today. The 20-year-old tantalized the Coco Cay Anglers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 3-0 shutout. "He had the changeup working," Coco Cay manager Brayden Bonaddio said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower." The San Angelo hurler had 9 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks and surrendered 3 hits in his complete-game effort. Torres told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league." "If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said. Taking a look at this year, León Torres has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 6-4 won-lost mark and a 2.78 ERA.
