Ortega Keeps Hit Streak Alive Monday, August 20th , 2057 Manuel Ortega, second baseman for the La Paz Toppers, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 31 games with 2 hits in his club's 6-3 victory today over the Cayman Islanders at Island Stadium today. "I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends." Manuel Ortega struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Trevor Lawrence in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, flied out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season Ortega is batting .401 with 6 home runs. His totals include 25 RBIs and 34 runs scored. |
