League Suspends Castro and Herbella for Brawl Monday, February 11th , 2058 Yesterday at Salty Dogs Ballpark Carlos Castro and Manny Herbella got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Merrill Lynch Bulls and Bumblebee Tuna. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Castro will have to sit out 5 while Herbella would be given a 3-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Currently Castro is hitting .240 and has collected 1 home run, 4 RBIs and scored 2 times, while playing in 10 games. For the year Herbella has 12 relief appearances and a 1-1 record with no saves. He has logged 25.2 innings and allowed 36 base hits. Opposing clubs have put up a .330 batting average against him. Herbella has rung up 22 strikeouts, surrendered 9 walks and fashioned a 3.16 ERA. |
