Lopera Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Thursday, February 7th , 2058 A jubilant Juan Lopera joined the postgame press conference at Ballpark of Salt Lake City HS today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Bumblebee Tuna pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Intelligrated Tigers left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Tigers to a 18-6 win. "He made it look easy," said Justin Decker, manager of the Tuna. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Juan Lopera flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Pedro McMahon in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Henry Leister in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Manny Herbella in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Armando Estrada in the 9th. So far this season Lopera is hitting .474 with 14 home runs, 44 RBIs and 36 runs scored. He has 64 hits in 135 at-bats and a .530 OBP. View Boxscore View Game Log |
