Barrera Is King of Swing: Goes Deep 3 Times Wednesday, January 31st , 2057 SimCity Simulators catcher José Barrera put on a dazzling display of power today at Loons Ballpark against the STX Soul. In the 13-3 Simulators victory Barrera penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," STX manager Claudio Rincón said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 15-year-old had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Barrera said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." José Barrera hit a two-run home run off Juan Tobías in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Mark Mitchell in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Paul Douglas in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. This season Barrera has hit at a .229 clip with 11 RBIs, 4 home runs and 13 runs scored. He has played in 26 games. |
