AmGen Halts Vallejo's Hitting Steak Tuesday, February 26th , 2058 For 26 straight games, José Vallejo tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 20-year-old U.S. Navy Midshipmen right fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the AmGen Chemists. The Chemists held him hitless in 1 at-bat at Charlotte College Fields today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 26. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Midshipmen took the win by the score of 4-3. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." So far this season Vallejo has 3 home runs and a .359 batting average. |
