Alvarado Whacks 3 out of the Park for Aflac Saturday, February 16th , 2058 Sometimes it just isn't enough. Iván Alvarado had an outstanding day at Lubbock College Grounds for the Aflac Ducks today, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Ducks fell to the Amoco Torch, 14-8. Alvarado had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 20-year-old third baseman banged out 3 hits in 5 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 5 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Ducks were not able to hold off the Torch. "Baseball is a funny game," Alvarado said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out." Iván Alvarado hit a solo-shot off Victor Bear in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Mal Ross in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Steven Dunbar in the 9th. For the season Alvarado is batting .318 with 49 hits and 12 home runs. He has scored 25 times and batted in 33. |
