Hammonds Socks It to Midshipmen, Cracks 5 Hits Sunday, February 10th , 2058 5 hits in a game is a rare thing, but U.S. Marine Corps's Carlos Hammonds made it happen today against the Midshipmen. Everything came together at the plate for the 20-year-old center fielder as he collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats -- and led the Fighting Leathernecks to a 13-3 win at Charlotte College Fields. "I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Hammonds said after the game, "I had some real good at-bats today. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em." Carlos Hammonds singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th.
