Ray's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games

Lorenzo Ray, first baseman for the AmGen Chemists, ran his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 2 hits in his club's 8-2 victory today over the U.S. Marine Corps Fighting Leathernecks at Henry Ford Field today.

"I don't really know why it's even happening," he said with a grin after the game. "So asking me how long I can keep it up is kind of irrelevant. It'll end when it ends."
Lorenzo Ray hit a two-run home run off Ricardo Cruz in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

Ray is hitting .420 for the season with 8 home runs, 16 RBIs and 16 runs scored. He has 37 hits in 88 at-bats and played in 20 games.
