Bang-up Game: Barnes Slams 3 Homers Thursday, January 23rd , 2053 Orange Crush second baseman Curt Barnes left the Curacao pitching staff in ruins at Dutch Field today, beating the Dutchmen 18-3 with a prodigious three-home run performance. "The last one was totally unexpected," Barnes told reporters at the press conference following his big game. "I just wanted to make good contact, never thinking I would get a home run, and bang, I got number three." For the game, the Orange second baseman had 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 7 and scored 4 runs. Curt Barnes struck out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Alberto Jenkins in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Earl Sanders in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Anastasio Muguel in the 6th, struck out in the 8th and walked in a run in the 9th. This year Barnes has hit 11 home runs and posted a .247 batting average. |
