Great Stroke: Nesmith Gets 5 Hits Tuesday, August 10th , 2060 It doesn't happen very often, but it did for Burt Nesmith -- a 5-hit effort. He went on a rampage at Fort Wayne Grounds and paced the 8-7 Thunder Ducks win over the Port Arthur Pythons. After his dynamite batting performance, the Ogden first baseman told reporters that he "just tried to get in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 8 tries and put his name in the record book. Burt Nesmith hit a two-run home run off Pablo Silva in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, grounded out in the 11th, flied out in the 12th and singled in the 14th.
