Bartlett Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Sunday, August 25th , 2058 The Round 1 went the distance before it all was said and done. The Bartlett Jazz and the Denison Monarchs went at it tooth-and-nail and when it was over at Denison Park, the winner was the Jazz. They put away Denison 11-7 to cinch the series and won the right to move onto the Round 2. For his fine play, even in a losing effort, Denison shortstop Kanakarasa Mahanthapa was given the series Most Valuable Player Award. He hit .516, scored 16 runs and batted in 11 to win the honor. "It's nice that someone noticed my numbers, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a win," he said. The Bartlett Jazz will play against the Albany Atoms in the next round.
