5 Hits for Lunkers Varríos Friday, July 19th , 2058 Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the Chestermere's 8-1 win over Lynchburg today, catcher Manny Varríos was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Jack Daniels Field. "To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Varríos said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close." Manny Varríos singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Pancho Escalante in the 9th. Varríos is hitting .313 this year with 6 home runs, 30 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has 52 hits in 166 at-bats, 10 walks and a .350 on-base percentage. Varríos has played in 43 games.
