Mellon Sparkles in 5-0 Shutout Wednesday, August 7th , 2058 In a seemingly effortless performance, John Mellon of the Frederick Travelers shot down the Charleston Clippers 5-0 on a 6-hit shutout. "John was just locating so well and using his pitches," Frederick manager Bill Hopkins said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate." Mellon recorded 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing. "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Charleston manager Dai-lin Chin said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him." On the season Mellon has compiled a 11-7 mark with a 2.60 ERA in 20 starts.
