Pelicans Snap Vatne's Streak at 22 Sunday, August 18th , 2058 The Orlando Oranges lost to the Havana Pelicans 4-0 today at Stadium Nationale de Cuba, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Erik Vatne's 22-game hitting streak. The third baseman went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Vatne, we would win the game," Pelicans manager Wilfred Sullivan explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." Currently Vatne has 20 home runs and a .307 batting average. |
