Season May Be Over for Yard Goats Alicea Saturday, May 25th , 2058 The doctors have spoken and Matt Alicea of the Commerce Yard Goats didn't like what he heard. The 34-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Alicea sustained his season-ending injury during the Annapolis Sailors game yesterday at The Citadel. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Commerce medical staff reported Alicea had a torn rotator cuff and would be absent from the lineup for at least 10 months. For this year Alicea has chalked up 4 wins and 4 losses in 10 starts with 36 strikeouts in 53.1 innings and a 5.23 ERA. |
