McBride Cracks 3 HR for Lumberjacks
Monday, October 16th , 2051
Ernest McBride went on an explosive hitting spree against the Nashville Bluebirds at The Trail in Multnomah today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Portland Lumberjacks to the 12-5 win.
The first baseman finished 3-for-5 with 4 runs scored and 4 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," McBride said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Nashville skipper Sylvester Reed said McBride was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Ernest McBride grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Barney Lindsay in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Barney Lindsay in the 4th, struck out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Alexander Higgins in the 8th.
This season McBride is hitting at a .322 pace with 56 home runs, 155 RBIs and has scored 131 times.
