Cougars-Blazers Trade Announced Sunday, August 4th , 2047 It came down to the last hour of a self-imposed trade deadline, but the Charlotte Cougars and Montreal Blazers finally came to an agreement on a trade that had been rumored for weeks. The trade sends Charlotte's 26-year old 1B Erik Wignes, 28-year old LF Héctor Cruz, 27-year old LHP Manuel Pacheco, 21-year old C Jake Rising, and 20-year old RHP Ace Young, Jr. to Montreal in a swap for 28-year old 1B César Feliciana and 26-year old CF Manoell Whanon. Both GMs seemed relieved that the deal had been completed with one stating, "We had to set a deadline to get it done." The players are expected to report to their new teams by tomorrow. Montreal will retain a portion of Feliciana's remaining contract. This year Cruz has collected a .214 batting average to date with 70 hits in 327 at-bats, 49 RBIs, 17 home runs and scored 43 times. He has played in 93 games. For the season Feliciana is hitting .323, batted in 68 runs with 23 home runs and 63 runs scored. |
