| Sluggers Snap Cochran's Streak at 21 Tuesday, August 28th, 2046 Late in the game, all eyes in Chico's Bail Bonds Field were on Tommy Cochran as he stepped into the batter box. His 21-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Cochran, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Cochran today, it was that his San Fernando Bears won the game anyway, stopping the Louisville Sluggers by the score of 5-3.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Cochran told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
Cochran on the season is hitting .294 with 30 home runs. His stats include 102 RBIs and 89 runs scored. | |
