 | Santana Slaps 5 Hits Friday, September 23rd, 2044 Des Moines left fielder Juan Santana went down swinging at Shotz Stadium today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Kernels fell, 5-4. "It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Santana said after his 5-for-7 performance against the Madison Wolves. "No offense meant to Madison, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well." After the game, his manager elaborated on the left fielder's improvements, saying Santana spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball. "That's what I'm trying to do," Santana agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Juan Santana flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th, singled in the 10th, tripled in the 12th and singled in the 15th.
